Transmission lines

Where to put transmission lines for both conventional and new renewable energy sourced electricity is the big discussion among energy geeks.

In California, the Sierra Club and Natural Resources Defense Council are supporting a new transmission line from solar energy plants. The line was approved Monday by the California Public Utilities Commission.

"The California portion of the Devers-Palo Verde No. 2 transmission line will provide clean power from desert areas to urban centers in California," according to a press release. "The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council strongly support the line because it has minimum impacts on California's wildlife and natural resources and will help the state meet its renewable energy target of 33 percent by 2020."

"The 500-kV transmission line project spans 170 miles in two segments across Southern California – 128 miles along Interstate 10 from North Palm Springs to Blythe, and 42 miles from Romoland to North Palm Springs. The new line would travel alongside existing power lines from virtually start to finish and follow the path of Interstate 10 for most of its route."

NM is set to be a center for some new transmission lines, one called SunZia Southwest Transmission Project down south and the Tres Amigas connecting station to join the nation's three grids in Clovis.

Looks like a great idea for a great improvement, taking into account both nature and human civilizationBuy assignment
