In mid-December I posted a link to what I erroneously said was an LA Times article regarding contaminants in tap water. It was a New York Times article reviewing a national report by the Environmental Working Group that reviewed data from thousands of water systems across the country. The report noted many water systems met legal water quality standards but not more restrictive health guidelines for contaminants ranging from disinfection by-products to radium.

I'm curious, dear readers, if any of you read the article or my follow up initial blurb on the study and became so concerned about your tap water you started buying (gasp!) bottled water, or ran out and got the latest filtration system, or decided to move or whether you laughed the whole thing off and reached for another cold one from the tap.

E-mail or call me and let me know. I'm working on a follow up story after talking with EWG and our city water division folks. smatlock@sfnewmexican.com or 986-3055 or 470-9843.
