What does 'sustainability' mean to you?
I am very interested in sustainable energy and keep my eye out looking for affordable ways to make my own home less dependent on public utilities. My long term goal is to be completely independent, using more natural resources. One step at a time, we will leave a better, healthier footprint on our world!
What do you do to try and live green and what would you like to learn more about?
I've been living green for 20+ years. I have eaten organically for as long as I can remember and feed my pets naturally also. It's amazing how much healthier we are because of it - and my cats and dog love their diets!

Because I am a Real Estate Broker and work with people that are new to Santa Fe, I always try to make them aware of our precious environment - especially involving water - and what they may plant in the yard that will survive nicely in our climate. If they allow me the opportunity, I also share my experience with feeding my pets both raw and organic as much as possible. This makes for healthier, happier pets!
Over the past few months I've stopped using plastic bottles and bought a couple of stainless steel containers that I fill with filtered water from the house. What a big difference when taking out the garbage! Because of the reports of how plastic bags are causing global problems, I've reduced my use of them to a bare minimum and bring my cloth bags to the store to fill with my goodies. For trash bags, I make sure they're filled to the top and make the best use of them.
I found a great organic landscaping company south of here that showed me natural ways to kill the bugs that invade my pinons. Would you believe plain dish soap and water serve just as well as insecticides? I have the best smelling trees in Santa Fe! To feed my plants, I also collect coffee grounds from the local coffee houses and tea that I use myself to feed the plants and the trees in my yard. They love it and are thriving.
What concerns you most about the issues facing the environment, whether locally or globally?
Future generations. It's up to us - those living in this world today - to make the world's use of our precious resources more efficient and to stop being wasteful. Even our waste is presenting a danger to our environment. More resources, financial and educational, should be utilized in order to assure the future of our precious earth.
